Album Notes

"Thunder in the Jungle, " by Rasheed Ali and Rain People is one of those rare recordings that successfully captures the African experience in the Americas through music. Unlike many attempts by other artists, "Thunder in the Jungle" encapsulates the essence of the variety of cultures found on the African continent and relates them to how they have developed in the Western Hemisphere. With their commitment to honoring the ancestors, Rain People's "Thunder in the Jungle" adds a modern spin without compromising age-old traditions. This is a beautiful and thought-provoking work.

Rasheed Ali has performed in Africa, Brasil & the Caribbean. He has recorded and toured with many international artists as a keyboardist and percussionist. Rasheed was previously signed to Atlantic & Fantasy Records prior to releasing his first "Rain People" CD in Japan in 1995. "Thunder in the Jungle" was released in 2002 on the Digital Rain Factory label. The CD is still circling the globe as Rain People's audience grows through the internets' word-of-mouth. Rasheed's vision is to break down the language barriers in music. Ali has since released a CD recorded in Bahia, Brasil ("Tristeza e Beleza na Cidade Negra") and a CD written in Spanish ("Agua que va Caer").
