Album Notes

Coming from different parts of the United States with diverse musical influences, the six members of Raisin’ Cain each moved to Nashville to pursue their individual musical talents. Clint Chandler (lead guitar, vocals) from Texas, was the first of the six to move to Nashville in 1998. In 1999, Steve Stokes (violin, mandolin, vocals) moved from Pennsylvania. Growing up together, Adam Ricker (lead vocals, acoustic) and Jay Gorman (bass guitar) from Ohio, both made the move to Nashville in 2000 as well as did Gregg Lohman (drums) from Illinois. Mark Burch (keyboards) is from Texas and moved to Nashville in 2001.

After making the move to Nashville, each member of Raisin’ Cain began playing different clubs in Printer’s Alley and Lower Broadway and also toured with artists including: Billy Currington, John Michael Montgomery, Aaron Tippin, Mark Chesnutt, Rebecca Lynn Howard, Josh Turner, Trace Adkins, Joe Nichols, SheDaisy, and Mel McDaniel. Throughout the next couple years of playing with different singers and artists, everyone in the band knew each other and had played with each other in a different band or with a different singer but had yet to play all six together as a band.

In 2002, the band formed with each member bringing his own style, influences, and years of professional playing experience that created a fresh, unique sound. Raisin’ Cain takes pride in being a “true” band, as they write, arrange, perform, and record their own material.
