Violet Rae Downey, Vickie Ellis, and Roberta Schultz all learned harmony singing in country Baptist churches. So when Violet's husband directed the Village Players Production of "Dearly Departed," a play about the Bible Belt, he asked Raison D'Etre to record the sound track. The original recording came out on cassette in 1996 as a memento for the subscribers to that Village Players season.
This CD is a 2003 remastering of that 1996 sound track. It includes country gospel versions of "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "Old Rugged Cross" along with a serene arrangement of "How Great Thou Art." Violet Rae Downey handles rhythm guitar, Roberta Schultz plays finger style, and Vickie Ellis plays all keyboards. If you miss the old hymns, here they are!
