Raleigh Hinman grew up in Plains, Kansas - a town of about one thousand people in the southwest part of the state. He got his first guitar when he was twelve years old. He has had no formal training and prefers to say that he has learned to play guitar "...from every guitar player I have ever known."

"Writing songs has been a passion for me. I love the workings of the English language. There are so many ways to say things and each way brings with it a slightly different connotation. Playing with meter and rhyme is the purest of joy one can have while trying to say exactly what you mean with the best possible turn of phase."

Raleigh has spent the past several years working as an engineer at Boeing and writing satiric songs about the programs on which he has worked to both the joy and chagrin of his managers. When the engineers at Boeing were talking about going on strike in 2000, he thought he would try to help the effort by writing a song that he describes as, "A take-off on Country Joe and the Fish. It was kind of a 'One, two, three what are we striking for?' type thing ". But it was fun and went over well. One thing led to another and a follow up song that he wrote for the same union's organizing effort landed him in Las Vegas, playing at the convention of the International Fellowship of Professional and Technical Engineers. "It was a lot of fun. And, now I have bragging rights that I have played 'Vegas."

Since the release of this CD he has been playing bars and coffee houses in Wichita where he lives and works. Some of the songs on this CD have been played on the radio in Europe. “It’s really not what you would call American Commercial music, but it is what I have to say, and I am not selling out for anybody.”
