Album Notes

Everybody knows the music of the english Band "The Beatles". But did you ever heard this songs played just on a fretless bass, in a instrumental version with no playbacks or overdubs? There are only very rarely bassplayers in the world, who can do this. One of them is the German musician Ralf Gauck. He is able to play a whole concert with his costum made Hofner fretless bass and the audience is surprised what is possible just on a bass. The German "pop foundation" voted him the last two years as the best German bassplayer. The foundation prized his extraordinary abilities to play the songs of the Beatles not only for musicians. He captures also the mainstream listeners. When Ralf starts to play the music of Lennon/McCartney, you have the feeling to discover this music in a new and never heard way. The European music publications judged his music to be a "benchmark for bass players" and considered him a "sound magician". Even the prestigious German news magazin "Die Zeit" picked up his CD "Fields of Gold" with songs from Sting on it in the high score table of the best productions of the year 2007. Ralf Gauck shows a new dimension of bassplaying and let you hear that the music of the Beatles is still as up to date as it was in the 60s.
