Album Notes

THE ALBUM:
The idea for this album came to me after hearing some arrangements, by Alan, of songs I normally would not do. I was quite impressed with what Alan did with these songs. At about the same time I received a call from Ross Schneider, who had heard my Misty Rain album, and asked if I would like to try some of the songs he wrote. I went through a few of the songs and was quite pleased with what I heard. Ross wrote these songs sometime ago and I am surprised they have not become "standards". So there you have it, something new and something old given a new sound and you have a bunch of gems that were hidden.

THE SONGS:
Journey, Another Day and Don't Go were written by Ross. Particularly interesting is the bridge on Journey, it is a singers nightmare and left me muttering to myself at times. It is a haunting song or as Ross puts it, a take off on "now I lay me down to sleep". Another Day and Don't Go are catchy and romantic. Dream Lover, Can't Buy Me Love, Cry and Your Cheatin Heart are songs you would not expect to hear in the style they are performed in.Alan did a great job with the arrangements. The balance of the songs are old standards, again updated beautifully by Alan.
