Album Notes

Randal Bays is an American fiddler who's been immersed in Irish traditional music for many years, with a string of recordings to his credit and a substantial touring history with many of the great names in Irish music, including Daithi Sproule, James Keane, Martin Hayes, etc. Dave Marshall is a Canadian guitarist (and multi-instrumentalist) who first worked with Randal on three tracks for the "Salmon's Leap" album in 2000. Last winter they sat down to record their first complete album together, and the result is "Dig With It", a straightforward collection of jigs and reels, hornpipes and marches, plus a couple of beautiful slow airs, "The Bold Trainer, O", and "Tá Na Paipéir Dhá Saighneáil". The album also features the recording debut of Randal's son, Willie Bays, on guitar.
