“The loneliness we feel, it comes with being alive”
Randit is singer/songwriter Randy Yee. Strumming a guitar or finger-picking a banjo, he writes songs with strong melodies and structure. With an honest voice, he sings about truth, bitterness, the inevitable loneliness, the underlying sadness, the sweet nothings of blissful emptiness, the unavoidable illogical feelings of heartbreak, the never-ending racing thoughts that rape your mind when you're trying to sleep and then feeling and looking like a zombie the next day, zombies, the unexpressed self-expression because of self-doubt, self-depreciation, and self-destruction, and just being really tired. Basically, hopeful songs for people who are tired of life, but don't want to kill themselves.
Wolf with a Shield is an album of richly textured indie/folk-rock compositions and instrumentation (including banjo, guitar, mandolin, and piano). A year in the making, and self-recording and producing, Randit spent countless hours of frustration, sleepless nights, swollen ears, and bleeding all over the place to get all the sounds, recordings, and mixes just the way he wanted them. After finally doing so, he took it apart and started the process all over again. Perfectionists have mental issues and he does not deny it, but that only means one thing: The time, energy, and heart that went into the making of this album is very apparent in the music.
Influences include: Jason Molina/Songs:Ohia/Magnolia Electric Co., Nick Drake, Neil Young, Cat Power, Damien Rice, The Decemberists, M.Ward, Hayden, Elliott Smith, Ryan Adams, and Isaac Brock/Modest Mouse/Ugly Casanova.

"The loneliness we feel, it comes with being alive."
author: Brian Yee
Randit's "Wolf with a Shield" album is a gem. From track number one to track number ten, the song names alone are worth the purchase, with such curious titles as "November 2, 1985" and "Home of the Recluse".

"Wolf with a Shield" is the soundtrack to that moment of reflection, while driving alone, during that time when nightfall tiptoes into the wee hours of the morning. Randit's melancholic mood with his beautiful guitar, banjo, and piano melodies makes for wonderful compositions of sound purity. Beginning to end, every song slides into each other with such naturalness, peaking with the title track as its fierce finale.

Simultaneously, each song stands by itself as a superb showcase of Randit's songwriting, his sorrowful singing, and his rich, textured instrumentation.

The low, wistful pitch that often floats alongside his introspective, and sometimes narrative verses is the prominent characteristic of Randit's music.

Songs certainly worth experiencing include: "Life in the AM", "The Ghost of Huntington", "Her Deep-End Blues", and--oh they're all dandy. Go buy it. Right now. And tell Santa Claus to order a bunch too, to hand out during the holidays!

Beautiful Music for People Who Know What Beauty Is
author: Dayv Cabrito
There are a lot of up-and-coming singer-songwriters out there, but few can write songs that can capture a complex emotion and convey all its subtle nuances with eloquence. Randit's music does just this. The songs contained in Wolf with a Shield have been crafted with a powerful attention to detail that is brutally honest and makes no excuses. If life has given you some bitter medicine, Wolf with a Shield is the perfect spoonful of sugar to help it go down.

the flow is ever important
author: todd lee
When you go out to purchase an 'album', you may do so to get your hands on some good tracks, which is understandable. But finding a solidly structured, well-flowing album these days can be a challenge. Randit comes through with just that, impressively enough on his first full length release, Wolf With a Shield. With a clean indie-folk sound, you will be sure to have all ten tracks stuck in your head nearly instantly. On top of the great music, the cover art stands out uniquely, especially while combined with the sleek digipak case. For nine dollars you've nothing to lose, this album is a steal and worth every penny especially for its musical value. I am eagerly awaiting Randit's next release!
