Written from the heart, One Face Into the Wind, is a compilation of original work by Randy Smith. The work includes songs written over the last 10 years. Randy plays acoustic guitar on all the songs as Linda accompanies a few songs with her Koa wood harp and weaves her beautiful harmonies throughout. The music expresses their various loves and interests such as the historic struggle in Ireland, the culture of Hawaii, songs dedicated to their family, their passion for the ocean and the ebb and flow of their Christian lives. As a lyricist, Randy’s hope is that you will be brought to laughter and tears, from McGee’s Pub to Makin’ Diamonds.
Even though their backgrounds range from Southern California surfer to North Dakota farmer’s daughter, they share common ground in music. Randy loves to incorporate history into his songs and his musical lines and guitar techniques are all self taught. Linda hears in harmony and attributes that to the fact she grew up hearing her father play the accordion.
As Randy says, “I have gathered these words and placed them in a row…will they say all I want them to …I really don’t know!”
Customer reviews:
“ . . . the blending of two voices that is more than just musical harmony is what I keep coming back to. It’s the blending of two souls I hear in these songs that I hold as a model of what I think is possible between two people.”
“ We thought the songs were beautiful, creative, challenging, inspiring and had marvelous imagery.”
