Jennifer Rannells was born in San Francisco, California, raised in Lexington, Kentucky and began writing and performing music as soon as she could form a note. Classically trained on the piano from age five and inspired by the Elizabethan and Appalachian folk songs sung to her by her mother, she began forming what was to become her current style by age fourteen.
Floating on haunting and beautiful melodies and within intertwining rhythms, her poetic lyrics paint landscapes of personal and charged emotions of her inner world, playful and strange stories of imaginary worlds, and the intangible spaces between.
Based in San Francisco, Jennifer has performed in Kentucky, Los Angeles, San Diego, and London.

Sheer perfection from beginning to end.

Put all of your favorite songs by Sarah, Tori, Fiona, Stevie, Joni, et al., on one cd and it might be as good as "Distance," an amazing debut by a very talented musician, Jennifer Rannells. Atmospheric melodies and inspired lyrics, combined with Jennifer's tender, yet provactive vocals makes this a must have for anyone's collection. With an uncanny ability of capturing passion and longing, this music stikes at the core of the elusive emotions of love, and will enhance your life, your dreams and your desires. This isn't coming out of my cd player...at least until Ms. Rannell's next release.

The first time I heard "Distance" was on a nightime drive to the beach with my boyfriend. We were so mesmerized by the hypnotic beauty of this music that we didn't say one word to each other during the trip. It was like the most perfect soundtrack to a most perfect moment in life and we didn't want to ruin it by talking. After the music stopped, my boyfriend and I looked at each other as if we had just shared the most intimate and passionate evening in our lives. People, buy this CD and experience it with the one you love!!!

This CD is one of the few which you can actually have trouble deciding which song is the best. The minute you fall in love with one song, you are tempted to call others your favorite. This is one of the best CDs I have heard in quite some time. With vocals that are rivaled by few, this CD should be a best seller. The songwriting is incredible as well.

From beginning to end, Distance is an amazing record. There is not a bad apple in the bunch. The songs are brilliantly written and sung. While they obviously come from a personal perspective, you will be able to relate to them as if Jennifer was talking about you. My personal favorite is Oceans. A very simply written and sung track that is heart rendering and beautiful. The rest of the CD follows closely behind. AMAZING!
