Album Notes

Stuart Adamson was poised to add a few new twists to the rock and roll dream. Rising from his blue collar Scottish roots to become arguably "the" seminal Celtic rock guitarist, he influenced a generation of artists. As lead singer and songwriter for the brilliant rock group, Big Country, he collected three Grammy nominations, two worldwide top 10 Billboard smashes, fifteen top 40 charters in the U.K. alone, movie credits, etc...all the while selling well over four million albums, and some six million singles.

After a few years working within Nashville's underground writing community, Stuart has released an organic collection of songs recorded with Nashville singer songwriter Marcus Hummon, under the alter ego band name, "The Raphaels." This new set of songs explores his country and folk roots without dampening his quintessential Celtic soul.

Marcus Hummon is an established Nashville singer-songwriter. His credits span chart hits in country, pop, and gospel in the U.S., U.K., and Canada. His hits include Grammy-nominated number one songs, Wynonna's "Only Love," and The Dixie Chicks, "Ready to Run." Additionally, he has written the chart-topping singles "Born to Fly," (Sara Evans) "Cowboy, Take Me Away," (The Dixie Chicks) and "One of These Days" (Tim McGraw). He also recorded a highly critically acclaimed solo record, All in Good Time, for Columbia Nashville, and two self-produced solo albums, The Sound of One Fan Clapping and Looking for the Child.

The Collaboration that arose from the songwriting partenership of Stuart and Marcus was one of a kind, and they brought out the very best in each other, to which this album stands as a testament.

I haven't listened to a CD in ages that had me loving every song and wanting to listen again and again. I actually bought 3 copies immediately thereafer for friends to share and see if the feelings were the same. I loved the mix of upbeat tempos and slower ballads. Each song was filled with layer upon layer of instrumentation and harmonies that to me sounded best with headphones on as I could catch a lot of little things not best heard fully outloud. Toe tapping, tear jerking, thought provoking all around wonderful CD. One that made me immediately say "Man, I wish I could see these guys in concert!" Unfortunately, that can't happen. RIP Stuart.
