Ras Midas, internationally renowned reggae revolutionary, has long focused his energy on the European and African continent despite his Jamaican heritage. He plans extensive tours in 2004 to promote his ninth solo album.

Confirmation, released in 2000, is classic Ras Midas - its rootsy beats, positive lyrics and complex arrangements have received rave reviews from music lovers around the world. Confirmation features sounds from reggae's finest, including the kings of drum and bass - Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare, as well as background vocals from Marcia Griffiths of the I-Threes.

Confirmation contains both new tracks and a rerecording of the hit single Kude-A-Bamba, the song that propelled Ras Midas to worldwide fame in the late 1970's when it sold more than half a million copies. The song was first recorded for Island Records in both English and Swahili, making Ras Midas the first Jamaican artist to truly bring reggae's message to the African Continent. Multilingual performances were to be become a cornerstone of his career as he was also the first reggae artist to record in French. His hit single Too Long In the Wind/Tout Temps Dan Le Vent from Rastaman in Exile helped him earn the Album of the Year Award in France.

Jamaican born Ras Midas recorded his first songs in London, England at the age of just 16 after being discovered by the acclaimed Harry J. Records of Kingston, Jamaica. Ras Midas later signed with AZ-Disc of France and Celluloid before forming his own label, JML Records, in the late 1980's. He has made a consistent effort to remain musically independent, keeping a strong base of loyal fans for nearly three decades.

Soon after he began his solo career he became known as the "Musical Prophet" for the many visionary messages contained in his lyrics. Ras Midas writes and produces most of his own material, though he enjoys putting his own spin on songs recorded by artists as diverse as Wilson Pickett and Fleetwood Mac. He has even recorded a peppery reggae version of the classic Sunrise, Sunset from Fiddler on the Roof.

Ras Midas believes upcoming concert dates will help spread his message of universal love and spiritual revolution worldwide. Recent successes have prompted the re-release of Loving Vibration, which was hailed for mixing lively Caribbean soca and African high life sounds with traditional roots reggae. Loving Vibration is also available on CD Baby.

Ras Midas is well known for his dynamic and deeply moving performances. He has headlined at numerous stadiums and dancehalls around the world and has participated in many festivals and special events throughout the United States. He is currently in the studio wrapping up production on his 10th album. to be released in 2004.
