Album Notes

This is rock ‘n’ roll. The songs on this EP could blow the walls off the garage, with Michael Rault kicking and fighting with his guitar while bandmates Shea Connor and Jon Lent hold things down (and occasionally spin things in new directions).
The first two tracks are, to put it simply, kick-ass garage rock. But the real gem here is the last tune, “The Things You Said.” Here, Rault’s vocals are tortured and ragged, while his guitar slams along like a train flying off the tracks, and Connor pummels his drums while Lent makes his bass sing (check out the way the opening bass line melds with Rault’s ringing guitar). It leaves you wanting more, and that’s a damn good note to leave on.

MICHAEL RAULT & THE MIXED SIGNALS
Sure Are Fun (CDR EP; No Label)
Here's the third to my knowledge, self produced CDR release by this fine young unit. It can't be too long before someone gives 'em the break they deserve. I'd love a vinyl collection of the contents of their last three CDRs. If you're a fan of great raw retro garage bands like The Swingin' Neckbreakers, you'll wanna hear this crew as well as they exhibit the same feisty abandon and play garage rock like it's fresh and new. Here we have three self-penned numbers 'Sure Is Fun', Sold! You're Mine' and 'The Things You Said'. All three kick ass. If you haven't heard them yet, you really ought to. Contact them at Do_the_dog@hotmail.com and check their webpage at www.myspace.com/michaelrault.

"Michael and his band are re-injecting venom into the kind of rock 'n' roll music that was a threat in his grand parents' day" -Robin Schroffel, The Sun, CAN. Michael Rault and the Mixed Signals are a garage rock and roll band out of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The group formed with the release of an independent self titled CD EP in June of 2005. They began playing shows shortly after, and quickly made a name for them selves as one of Edmonton's must see up and coming bands. In February of 2006, the group kept up their momentum with their second independent release titled "Edmonton's Newest Hit Makers". The CD was another local success, and brought the band one step closer to achieving the wild, blues driven sound they are looking for. For their latest effort, they teamed up with Juno Award nominated Nik Kozub (The Cleats, Veal, Shout Out Out Out Out) and created a three song single entitled "Sure Are Fun" that was released in December of 2006 and rose to number 6 on the CJSR FM charts. "Rault and his cohorts produce a great basic garage sound which all garage heads worthy of their salt should check out. They are clearly worthy of a label signing and deserve to have their songs more widely heard" -Paul Martin, Shindig Magazine, UK.
