Album Notes

Raven Cohan has been writing songs since childhood! Show biz was all she knew through adulthood where she made her living for nearly 40 years. (From ‘62-‘68 she did musicals on off-Broadway, and ‘67-‘80 she was an acrobatic dance team working world wide called ‘Raven and St. John’. Then she created a solo contortion dance act that lead her to event entertaining with impersonations, mimes and more she called, “A Lady and Her Characters’. She often wrote and performed singing telegrams as well.
In 1981, after meeting her teacher, Master Mantak Chia, the spiritual part of her strengthened greatly although she was pursuing spiritual growth from 15 years of age. She got her first of nine certifications in ‘83 and began adding Taoist teaching to the stretch exercise she'd taught since ‘76. In the year 2000, she sang two songs she'd written for a New Age show. Soon she broke out of Event Entertainment performances in order to devote her full time to teaching Ancient Chinese techniques.
By 2003 she was barely missing performing, when the song “Just Stand Still” came to her one night before drifting off to sleep. Her arranger-engineer, John Jay Martyn told her, (after hearing all three songs), “You need to make a CD.” Raven had never thought of that before! The rest of the eleven songs on this CD nearly flew out of her, (often the lyrics and melody came out at once!)
Raven loves jazz and most of the melodies are jazz-based. Lyrics are mostly inspired through Chia's Universal Tao system! But anyone on any path can use some inspiration. Listen with understanding through your own language.
Your spirtual and health-filled Self will be bolstered. May listening to this CD encourage you to have fun and also develop to become better and better beings.
