Simply great and grooving
author: Martin
I heard this CD on Smooth Jazz Radio the first time. Usually the music there sounds like background music in supermarkets. But Bad Kat Karma really grooves. One of my favorite CDs in the moment. Caution: don't listen to it during driving - you may end up with a speed ticket.

Bad Kat Karma is currently our favorite CD!
author: Mike O'Brien, Talent Buyer - Genuine Jazz Festival
Steve Raybine is truly a gifted composer and dynamic live performer. I expect Bad Kat Karma to be a big national break out release for him. Jazz aficionados need to become acquainted with Steve Raybine as he is well deserving of wider recognition.
The Genuine Jazz Festival in Breckenridge, Colorado, was proud to have presented Steve as a feature artist in 2003 and we had him back by popular demand in 2005. It is rare to see such instrumental virtuosity, deft composing and savvy stage presence in one musician.
Bad Kat Karma is currently our favorite CD. Steve named one song, Breckenridge Blue, from the inspiring mountain views at our festival.
From his collaborations with Rick Braun in the past to his current work, Steve Raybine’s
musical prowess shines. Genuine Jazz is proud of Steve and his strong new CD release, Bad Kat Karma.

\"Steve Raybine is known as \'Master of the Mallets.\' BKK has a nice groove wit
author: Elaine Miller, freelance writer and contributer to Smoothnotesan
Steve Raybine, known affectionately as the "Master of the Mallets," is a unique musician in today's genre of contemporary jazz. Bad Kat Karma is his second solo release featuring original contemporary jazz with 8 of the 10 tunes being written by Raybine. The two cover tunes, "Breezin" and "Sunny," are so unlike the originals that one almost assumes they are Raybine's as well. BKK contains musical elements of jazz, R&B, Latin, pop, and light funk. The album overall has a nice underlying groove with very intoxicating, hypnotic and catching melodies. The feel of Bad Kat Karma is very enjoyable. You can listen to this disc in a traffic jam, you can listen to this disc while enjoying the company of friends, or you can listen to this disc while experiencing a romantic evening. BKK really has no boundaries when it comes to listening pleasure or preference. And one never really tires of listening to BKK. On BKK, Steve has some very notable guest appearances. Many jazz aficionados may remember Steve as co-founder (with college friend and fellow c-jazz artist, Rick Braun), of the jazz group Auracle. Guest artists include Rick Braun on keyboards, trumpet and programming, Randy Jacobs on guitar, fellow Auracle bandmate, Steve Kujala on flute, Nelson Rangell on alto saxophone, Chad Stoner is featured throughout the CD on alto and tenor saxophone, Rashad McPherson on vocals, and it must be noted that Steve's son, David, also appears on BKK playing alto sax. "Bad Kat Karma" is the funky cut with a nice rhythm section incorporated into and throughout the tune, with a very nice alto sax piece featuring Chad Stoner. "Breezin" has a relaxed, island like version of the classic George Benson cover written by Bobbie Womack. Arranged by Rick Braun it features Braun on keyboards, Randy Jacobs on guitar and Steve Kujala on flute. "Breckenridge Blue" is a beautiful and somewhat romantic song inspired from the 2003 Breckenridge Genuine Jazz Festival. It takes you back to the beautiful mountain air, listening to jazz spread out on a blanket at the base of the slopes and just taking it and all the beauty in!. "Indigo Night" is dedicated to wife, Beth, and features Rick Braun on muted trumpet and has a very soft, smooth jazz radio feel, leaving you longing for nights of quiet romance. So get going, put on your Cha Cha Cool shades, in the Breezin, Sunny, Breckenridge Blue, before the Indigo Night in the Bop City and show everyone what Bad Kat Karma is! Put in a copy of BKK and experience and hear for yourself what the "Master of the Mallets," Steve Raybine has to say. I promise you, you will not be disappointed!
