Standup Shakespeare as heard on this recording was presented by the Folger Shakespeare Library in 1994. Brainchild of composer Ray Leslee and actor Kenneth Welsh, this show was performed in the 1970s as a cabaret musical downstairs at New York City’s West Bank Café and was later produced off-Broadway by the Shubert Organization, directed by Mike Nichols.
Stars Alison Fraser, Thomas Young, and David Margulies, with Ray Leslee on piano, Jack Bashkow on woodwinds, Dave Dunaway on bass, and Rob Thomas on violin.
