Album Notes

Born in Louisiana, Ray Pitre was brought up a natural born musician, and displayed music and writing talents at an early age, when he began playing music with his brother Leonard, a winner of many contests himself. Ray was playing Bluegrass at the age of eight on band stands across the country, winning numerous awards in the instrumental field. After a few years in Bluegrass, Ray went on to start his own country band, (never leaving Bluegrass totally) and recorded his first song, The Louisiana Waltz, which made the independent charts, then went on to the majors.

Brought up in the church, his musical talents were perfected by singing and playing with other church groups, who at that time were much older than him. Ray's mother and father both sang and played, and were Christian folks who encouraged and inspired their children to follow their hearts and dreams. Ray would go on to win the state competition on the banjo, and played with many musicians in country, bluegrass, and gospel music.

Ray's life is spent with his wife and two adopted children, fishing, going to church, singing, and reading. He came from a family of seven children, five boys and two girls, who were all raised deep in the woods of Louisiana, down on the Calcasieu River.

Ray Pitre is a member of the Nashville Song Writers Association International. He has been the Louisiana state banjo champion and the Air Play Internationals Rising New Star, and has won numerous awards in other competitions.
