It took me a little bit to get used to their version of "Tank" but I really love this album, it's a constant on my play list since I got it. The interview with Ed is priceless too, I love it.

"I didn't know cartoons were real."

Anime fans will be pleased to know that Rayzd's lead singer, Jakineko, pronounces the Japanese lyrics smoothly and accurately. Alexa Cavaseno also does a funny, and uncannily accurate, impersonation of Ed. Everyone else can just enjoy the music. "Adieu" sounds like a lost Ellington chart, and the sax solos on "Tank" are as urgent and kinetic as the title deserves. In the case of "Real Folk Blues" and "Rain," I actually prefer Rayzd's version. On the OSTs, I found those tracks to be shrill, turgid, power ballads, but Rayzd brings them to life with a different rhythm and vocal approach. The rap in "Real Folk Blues" alludes to the series both in its lyrics, which incorporate several episode titles, and in its cynical bravado. Who knew that Spike Siegel sounded so much like a gangsta rapper! The high point of the CD is "Bring Me to Life," which is impressive considering it's the one original composition from the band. It took me several listens before I realized that this was not the opening soundtrack to an anime series. Thank you, Rayzd, for keeping it real...as real as anime gets, anyway.
