"Jon Langford met Richard Buckner in the security booth at Buck Owen's Crystal Palace in Bakersfield, CA where they had been chained together for their own protection. Mouths taped shut with duct tape, they communicated via primitive Morse code messages tapped out on each other's foreheads with fish bones. The ordeal was brief but formative, and after countless power breakfasts and costume parties from Edmonton to Austin, from Brooklyn to the Bay Area, they fell exhausted into a photobooth and saw how fantastic they looked together in neat black and white rectangles and smelling faintly of eggs. They decided to spend a year in Sally Timms' apartment making this album for release on Buried Treasure Records."
-- Captain J. Langford of the H.M.S. Mekon

Very Nice Work!

Jon Langford and Richard Buckner give us an object lesson on how to make great music...collaborate, simplify, subtract everything which is not necessary, trade riffs, affirm each other's talent...which two other writers could've set their egos aside long enough to do this???
At any rate, the songs have a totalizing quality, they won't get out of your head after you've heard them. The CD will still be in the player next month...this is one of the best examples of the relevance of the art of the singer/songwriter.

Fans of Richard Buckner's older work need this cd!

I have been a big fan of Richard Buckner since Devotion + Doubt. Since was a change for him but still had some great songs. After that it seemed like his music changed a little bit to me - still some great songs but maybe missing a little something. Well whatever it is, this cd has it. I was also unfamiliar with John Langford, his songs on this are also great. Overall his sound and style here fits very well with Richard's. I was a little worried about sound quality since it was recorded in an apartment and is an independent release - but it sounds fine. Overall, if you liked D+D and Since, you should snag this. Buying thru CD Baby was also a very good experience.
