Album Notes

Robert Bruce Scott: Vocals, Celtic Harp, Classical Guitar

The 5th RBS solo cd has to be one of the most beautiful albums on cdbaby. The first track, Garden Song, is worth the price of admission alone. Heart and Soul is a collection of modern Art Songs created with pristine Celtic harp and thunderous, virtuoso classical guitar performances. Robert’s poetry, as always, is involved and evocative.

But by far the most distinctive aspect of this new album is the vocal performance. Robert trades in his trademark powerhouse rock vocals for a very controlled, cultured, lyric style, only attainable by an operatic tenor at the peak of his training and performance.

In addition to his work with il Troubadore - Indy’s 16th Century Rock Band - already a powerhouse in the American mid-west, Robert Bruce Scott has now begun performing solo with the Celtic harp and classical guitar. For booking information, he can be contacted at robert@ArtistStudio.com

RBS History

Since the age of 14, Robert Bruce Scott has been playing professionally as a solo guitarist and with a long line of bands in which he played at various times bass guitar, keyboards, lead guitar, drums, and was most often the lead singer. He studied voice at Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma and graduated in 1985.

In 1989 he put together The Source to record an experimental rock album, Embryo, later released on a single cd with another album (see discography below). In 1997 Robert put together another band, Three Trees, which released two cds (see below). In 2002, he assembled the 16th Century Rock Band and released another cd, Bonnie Rose. After moving from Lawton to Indianapolis, he joined with Jon Silpayamanant in 2004 to create il Troubadore - Indy’s 16th Century Rock Band.

During this time from 2003 to present, RBS has released five entirely unique solo albums, each project distinct from the others and also from the albums he produced with The Source, Three Trees, The 16th Century Rock Band, and il Troubadore.

Heart & Soul
author: Harlow Ballard

I find Robert's Heart and Soul evokes imagery like one rarely experiences with music. I found it fascinating that his sequalizing of songs provided to me with an unbroken experience from the first to the last original composition. I imagined a brook trickling trough the forest at the beginning of time with Sakara, and then increasing in flow as it flowed through Garden Pond, and pondered being "forever lost. His enchanting voice and instrument sounds provided many happenings along the way, sometimes almost anxious, sometimes sad, but always resolving to the serenity of the brook. The climax came with Heart and Soul and after that, as Lullaby played I stood still beside the brook as it flowed on into the far distance, and finally out of sight. Robert has magnificently improved since I heard his first CD 3 years ago or so. His harp needs no apology - its as good ashis precision guitar playing. His voice, of course, provides another instrument, but with a range and enchantment that few instruments perform so faultlessly. Heart and Soul will be my companion for a lot of my deep and private reverie.
