Robert’s keyboards, absent from his last two albums, have returned with vengeance… and they brought friends…
Heavy Metal Poisoning establishes its metallic credibility with the title track and the church-bell laden “Dead Thing”, but the album covers a lot of metallic territory. Several songs on this album were designed around belly dance rhythms to provide tribal and Goth dancers belly-danceable heavy metal. “Waiting for the Sign” moves from a fast Ayub to slow Ballade to fast Ayub. “Seven” is built on a Greek 7/8 dance rhythm and “Haram” (Arabic for “Forbidden”) is built around a 9/8 Turkish Karshlama rhythm.
Drenched in analogue and digital synthesizers, the album is also a Smörgåsbord of heavy metal and hard rock timbres. Robert developed specific guitar and keyboard sounds for each song and brought in guest artists to increase the variety so that each song sounds like a new or different kind of metal. Noiseman433 (aka Jonathan Silpayamanant) provides death-metal growling on the second track and session keyboardist Bradley Moore brought his smoky electric piano to the fast blues of “Log Jam”. With the help of Paul Radecki on the Egyptian Tabla, RBS created an acoustic metal song, “The Balance Unpaid”, featuring his mandolin and Celtic harp. Robert’s versatile vocals vary from smooth to shrieking, leavened with rich vocal harmonies.
“Heroes” is by far the strangest song in the set, flowing smoothly from a smooth rock ballad to hard rock eventually to church organ and ending with a cappella vocal harmonies. Then there's the bonus final track, a noise track contributed by Noiseman433 created without instruments using only signal processors...

RBS History
Since the age of 14, Robert Bruce Scott has been playing professionally as a solo guitarist and with a long line of bands in which he played at various times bass guitar, keyboards, lead guitar, drums, and was most often the lead singer. He studied voice at Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma and graduated in 1985.
In 1989 he put together The Source to record an experimental rock album, Embryo, later released on a single cd with another album (see discography below). In 1997 Robert put together another band, Three Trees, which released two cds (see below). In 2002, he assembled the 16th Century Rock Band and released another cd, Bonnie Rose. After moving from Lawton to Indianapolis, he joined with Jon Silpayamanant in 2004 to create il Troubadore - Indy’s 16th Century Rock Band.
During this time from 2003 to present, RBS has released six entirely unique solo albums, each project distinct from the others and also from the albums he produced with The Source, Three Trees, The 16th Century Rock Band, and il Troubadore.
