Album Notes

River City Slim & The Zydeco Hogs have been "Rockin' The Zydeco World" throughout the Northeast for over five years, and now they’re ready to rock your world, too -- the third CD from New England's hottest Zydeco dance band is here! Collaborating once again with engineer extraordinaire Collin Tilton, The Zydeco Hogs deliver the goods. From the moment the opening track "Round 'Em Up" rolls out of your speakers, to the last feverish shouts of "Hee Haw Breakdown", The Zydeco Hogs pump out some of the best high-energy Louisiana-style music to be heard outside of the Bayou State.

Highlights include the exuberant title track -- the new original "Rockin’ The Zydeco World", the Houston sound of "Tee Black", and the deep Swamp Pop ballad "First You Cry". Through it all, The Hogs conjure the feel of a sweaty Saturday night in a jam-packed dance hall. As Ed McKeon of the New Britain Herald said, "When The Zydeco Hogs play the air is filled with the spirit of Louisiana French music. You feel the ragged joy of Cajun two-steps and Zydeco blues. You can almost smell the garlic and the stewing oysters, the humidity rises a few points and suddenly this isn't Connecticut anymore."

River City Slim & The Zydeco Hogs first came together in the cold New England winter of '98 - '99. The Hogs made a big splash at the eighth annual Folk Next Door concert at the University of Hartford in May of '99, and haven’t looked back since. The band has made appearances at music festivals up and down the East Coast, including a performance at the 9th Annual Cajun/Zydeco Crawfish Festival in Fort Lauderdale, FL in 2001. Other major festivals The Hogs have been featured at include Musikfest in Bethehem PA, the Great Blue Heron Fest in Sherman NY, and Rhythm & Roots in Charlestown RI. Along the way, The Hogs have released two recordings, "High On The Hog" (2000), and "Big Fun On The Hog Farm" (2002). The leanest, meanest Zydeco machine in the Northeast is now poised for the next step -- bringing the party to your CD player!

So let's head on out to the Hog Farm, where River City Slim & The Zydeco Hogs are "Rockin' the Zydeco World" and the Big Fun is just beginning! Lace up your dancin' shoes, turn up the volume, and let's all pass a good time, cher! Laissez les bons temps rouler -- Allons Zydeco!

Round´Em Up!
author: Jan Eckerl
First I heard the song "Round´Em Up" - what a catchy tune -on the (internet)radio show "The Pine Grove Blues" and it didn´t get out of my head anymore. Then I ordered the cd and the whole thing kicks real good. A very good zydeco band with a good solid beat. This one makes you dance!
