notes
Any one of these women can silence a room with the power of her voice and her musical presence. They have sung together for the joy of it every time they have crossed paths on their well traveled roads. Now these extraordinary singers and multi-instrumentalists have joined forces to form the Road Dog Divas. The summer of '01 saw the divas howling through the southwest; the spring of '02 has welcomed in their new record, 'Everything's in Boxes.' The summer of '02 will see them tour the northeastern states and Canada. They will be featured at the Vancouver Folk Fest and the Northern Lights Festival in Ontario.
Darlene has lived the true life of a troubadour. 12 years of continuous living on the road (8 of them on a motorcycle) has taught her how to bring life into traditional and original music. Whether singing her own character-driven songs, jazzy-blues, celtic/country, acappella, first nation chants or full blown gipsy tunes, Darlene is always crucial and spellbinding. She has 2 albums to date. "A cult Roots act in the making!" -Dublin Events Guide, Ireland

Laura Freeman sings jazzy Texas sass. Combining torch, country, vaudeville and a wonderful sense of humor, Laura takes you on trips to France, holds you tight in a thunderstorm and lets you laugh while you cry. She has released two records: 'Greatest Hits from her 20's and 30's' and a new children's album: 'A Baker's Dozen' for everyone's inner 5 year old.
"If Dorothy Parker had a lovechild by Jimmie Rodgers, the baby might have sounded a lot like Laura Freeman. She's half-cowgirl, half-disillusioned flapper, living in the perpetual ragtime hangover that followed the Jazz Age." -rockzilla.net

Myshkin sings like a bird, plays like an inmate and writes like she's lived every story. Since landing in New Orleans in 1993, she has made six highly praised albums, garnered various awards and toured nonstop, playing festivals, clubs and concerts from Sydney to Seattle, Berlin to Boston. Myshkin's Ruby Warbler's new record, 'rosebud bullets' was released locally in May 2002 to critical uproar and is due for national release in September.
"A marriage of punk's irreverence with the refinement and emotion of the jazz torch singers of old... an exhilarating musical ride." -New Orleans Times-Picayunne

Road Dog Divas: Everythings in Boxes
author: kate figueroaLoved this CD. Took a chance on it after hearing one track "Seraphim" on a program called "The Caravan" (Public Radio/Gainesville Florida) felt lucky when I ended up loving every track on the CD. Every song is different. Its an eclectic mixture of gypsy, blues, folk, love, you name it. These ladies rock with their tight rhythms, excellent string concoctions and beautiful voices and most of all their lyrics, some funny, some meaningful, some touching, all perfectly crafted and delivered. I treasure this one. Its timeless. Thank you Divas! And I'm sure you hear this a lot- I wish you'd do more together!
Just what I expected!
author: ShannonI first heard most of these songs from a friend of mine that sings and plays. She said to buy it. When it came in the mail I was extatic! Sounded just as good as expected and will buy more from the RDD!
beautiful marvelous
author: sophia!this i found at a time when i felt like everything in my life is in boxes. Rolls right with my emotional rollarcoaster. WEEEEEE!
Imagine all the elements in one place - harmonies, wit, and fine instrumentation
author: Steve HewittYes there is still great music being made that has humor, harmonies, and great talent. The Road Dog Divas combine music styles from the 30's to the 60's and today's great storytellers - a must have album for all who love music.
Awesome...Awesome...Awesome!
author: Brooke LauraI first saw "Road Dog Divas" at Kerrville Folk Fest. These chicks have so much energy and spunk! I enjoy their music so much. I just want you ladies to know you rock and can't wait to see you this year @ Kerrville! RECYCLING CREW SUPPORTS YOU!
Thank you CD baby for giving me access to great music!
author: PaigeI had heard the opening minute or two of the song Seraphim about 5 or 6 years ago, and it stuck with me forever. I didn't know who sang the song only the first few lines. I finally typed what I knew ( the first corus) into google and up came The road dog divas.... finally i found the song that had stayed with me for soo long....I bought the album and now I hve the song forever. Bonus that the rest of the album is equally as memorable. Thank you CD baby for giving me access to great music! Paige
Beautiful voices, very moving songs.
author: ChrisI heard one clip on my favorite online radio station, CKUA and I immediately purchased the CD. I am so glad I did!
Loved every song... wish I was on the road with these three
author: Julie MillerI've heard Darlene alone (and I love her)and now on this CD these three together, well they are incredible. Such a variety that you never know what direction the next song will take. They compliment each other without taking away from each one's individuality. Can't wait to hear them live!
Loved it!
author: Sandra HowardI heard one of the songs from this CD on a Dirty Linen sampler and it rang all my bells...had to have it...and it lived up to all my expectations. These girls are having too much fun!
