Rick played coffeehouses from DC to Maine in the ‘70s. He joined up with Bob Colford and Steve Brown played in local clubs in the `70s and `80s as the folk/rock band Parts and Labor, playing around Boston and Cambridge. In the late 90’s Rick took up choral singing again, then started playing his own songs, old and new, and covers (Dylan, Dave Carter, Traditional) on the vibrant coffeehouse circuit in New England. A couple of years ago, Parts and Labor got back together for song, food, and fun, doing occasional shows in Cambridge. “Twelve Dared Dreams”, featuring original songs by Rick and Steve, plus some favorite P&L cover tunes, came out of that reunion.

Conveys warmth of in-person shows I've attended.

I'm an occasional CD player, but found this disc strangely bewitching -- I play it as background doing number-crunching, because the intimacy of the performance eases the solitude of computer work. The tracks are varied, reflect nostalgia and uncowed enthusiasm and sustained feeling. Guitar work is good in its own right, not just background for melody.
