Album Notes

RDunlap has been exploring alternative and experimental routes to music outside the mainstream since 1985.

This collection of highlights from 22 years of audio adventures focuses primarily on electronic pieces, with one tape collage featuring acoustic and environmental sources.

Some of these selections were generated from elaborate and methodical sequencing schemes; others are more improvisational in nature. Some have been remixed and rearranged, bringing the original recordings into a new dimension. All selections feature (some exclusively) Dunlap’s idiosyncratic instrumental specialty: the now rarely-heard vintage Casio CZ-101 and CZ-1 phase distortion digital synthesizers. ‘Sequenza mix’ incorporates vocal samples created by rachMiel.

Those familiar with RD who may have some of these tracks in their collection already should know that most of these are new and improved versions, newly mixed and/or remastered for this CD.

RDunlap is also known for his remix and collage project dadala, and collaborates with Johann Meier of Jopy in the experimental electronica project PcOnTrApTiOn. He also has various other collaborative projects available online.
