Album Notes

Rea is a 20-year-old Fine Arts (Visual Arts) student at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador, Grenfell Campus in Corner Brook. A talented visual artist in a variety of media, Rea has extended this same gift in her song writing and performing.

Her lyrics have been described as honest and witty, her harmonies smart and natural. Rea’s style is unique and yet shows influences of such artists as Sarah McLaughlin, Nora Jones, Priscilla Ahn and Evanescence. Rea began playing the guitar just six and a half years ago under the tutelage of Anne Divine, an accomplished Newfoundland folk guitarist and then Charlie Barfoot, a well known Newfoundland jazz guitarist. Rea has written instrumental pieces for the guitar but has now expanded to include both song writing and performing. She is a regular at Open Mics both in St. John's and Corner Brook where she has received much praise and a loyal following.

Rea has launched her first EP entitled Green Popsicle, which is also the name of the title track. The EP features six original compositions that range from celtic rock, to pop, to folk, to whimsical fantasy. Superbly produced by well-known Atlantic Canadian musician, Kurt VanHahn, this collection of originals will leave you wanting more. The creative arrangements are contagious as Rea’s pure and versatile voice gently lures the listener to move with the beat and sing along.

Keep an eye on this young artist; we believe we’ve just scratched the surface of a substantial talent.
