Album Notes

Voice of Wilford Brimley:

I'm Wilford Brimley... Ready the Jet live and play in Los Angeles. They are a "power-trio" who play power-pop. Their songs are about the day-to-day heartbreaks and joys of living in their sprawling, confusing city. Their music sounds nothing like Los Angeles.

Hiding under sheets of distortion and heavy drumming are earnest melodies and hidden harmonies reminiscent of the mid-80's Minneapolis sound. A Ready the Jet song rarely lasts more than two minutes. Apparently, their ambition is to be as gratifying - and as fleeting - as a sonic sugarcube.

If you asked the band how many songs they have written in the past two years, they'd have to have a conference about it, because there are countless... and they probably wouldn't know the answer.

The captain has been informed that we'll soon be facing some turbulence, please take your seats, and notice that the "Fasten Your Seatbelt" lights have been turned on.

I admit, I got a copy, pre-mastered, rough, lo-fi first cut edition. And I listened to it every day for months. It's really so amazing. Not just some songs, but ALL of the songs on New Record Highs are greamazing!! I still listen to it daily on my car cd player. When you hear it, you will too.
