About Us

The Real Women Singers carry the musical message of the Real Women Project which was conceived by three women - two OB/GYN's and a psychotherapist - when they pondered on how best to promote womens' health in the new millennium. They agreed that much of the mental and physical anguish their patients endured stemmed from trying to measure up to the unrealistic and unattainable images of beauty fed to them by the media and the culture at large.

The Real Women Project offers an alternative, using the techniques that established the prevailing stereotypes in the first place. It employs the tools of advertising - imagery, music, stories, art and video - to appeal to womens' senses, and to promote self-acceptance and self-love as the foundation for mind-body-spirit-health. This approach broadens the definition of beauty to be inclusive and honors the dignity of all women.

These original songs were written specifically for the Real Women Project and will captivate your heart and mind and move you to your feet; they will, we promise, inspire, affirm and celebrate the inner beauty we all possess.
