Album Notes

COMMON TONGUE is a six-piece, eclectic, world beat band featuring vocals, Russian balalaika, African kalimba, Middle Eastern and Brazilian percussion, electric and classical guitars, drums, bass, and keyboards. The band contains players from REBBESOUL, THE JERRY GARCIA BAND, SPEARHEAD, and STRUNZ AND FARAH. They also come from different countries such as Brazil, Tanzania, and the USA. STEP INTO MY WORLD is their debut album produced by REBBESOUL.

"Fun, funky, futuristic...idealistic... Layers of international instrumentation: kalimba, gypsy-sounding percussion, and stringed melodies support Lynn Rose's sultry vocals to produce danceable world panache! From the killer duet of "Radio Man," to the protest-rant-groove-spoken word of "I've Seen God (is a lesbian)," This CD charmed my headphones off me. My long-forgotten rock 'n' roll soul was stirred by the wailing guitar of "White Rabbit." World music with a counter-culture twist."- Radio-V

"Led by Bruce Burger, who also is the founder of cutting edge Jewish band RebbeSoul, Common Tongue played before a small crowd that was quickly seduced by the catchy songs. Singer Lynn Rose, wrapped her powerful, brassy vocals around a mix of Middle Eastern, Eastern European and African rhythms, propelled by a solid rock foundation."

"Comprised of players from RebbeSoul, The Jerry Garcia Band, Love and Rockets, Spearhead and Royal Crown Review, the band has all the credentials to explain why it was the first live performance I have been to recently to give me chills." - Connection Magazine, Santa Cruz, CA
