This song was composed as a birthday present for my friend Allison several years ago. I never wrote a dance song before so I listened to a couple and wrote down the structure (theme one 4 measures, etc.) Then I composed the music using Garage Band, that I had discovered on my computer only two weeks before. I wrote down some phrases about libraries and librarians and recorded them on the built in mic. Playing around with the vocal transformer was lots of fun. Every voice on this song is me.
After that it was a couple of hours of tweaking and mixing before I sent it off to my friend. She enjoyed it, and that was that. Then last year, I listened to the song again, and thought it would be fun to film a video at my favorite library in Guilderland, NY. That library was more than happy to have my family take over their space for two hours while we filmed the scenes. It was a year later before I got around to editing it, and adding my nephew and his girlfriend lip-synching. It's up on youtube:
