Album Notes

At just 18 years old, Rebecca Austin is poised to take the record industry by storm. A skilled songwriter and vocalist, Rebecca began studying music at an early age, including singing in church Christmas shows at just four years old. Originally from Wisconsin and now located in San Diego, California, Rebecca is living out her dreams.

Her style is best described as mainstream with an edge. Her songs come from personal experience and have the ability to reach people on more than just a superficial level. Rebecca belongs to that new generation of young artists who believe that songwriting is tantamount to performing. There is also a certain naturalness and soul to her voice that seems beyond her years.

In 2003, Rebecca met and collaborated with Los Angeles-based producer Kamal Moo and the result is Rebecca's debut album "Waking Up." Unlike many pop albums that saturate today's marketplace, "Waking Up" isn't afraid to explore different styles and offers something for every listener. There are rock tracks like the distorted guitar tinged "Shame," soulful ballads like "The One," and urban dance tracks like the Latin-flavored "Let Me Breathe." There is something here for everyone.

Not many artists can create an album of this caliber, with songs that fit together so seamlessly and feel complete. Expect great things from Rebecca Austin.

Impressive Debut
author: Francis Boalch
A very impressive debut CD, songs are all well written and songs such as The One and Let Me Breathe are very hookable and very easy to sing along to. Its difficult to put this album into one category or style of music, but on reflection it's modern day pop music, perhaps Fans of Rachel Steven's or Christina Aguilera should check her out. The Production on the CD is also of the highest quality. I look forward to Album no. 2
