Rebecca’s stellar songwriting shines as never before against an eclectic Americana Folk Rock backdrop of acoustic guitars, cello, hand and kit drum percussion, bass, and high lonesome guitars. Her latest album project titled “Telling Stories” set for November 2009 release was produced by Rebecca Rippy and engineered by longtime friend and musician Jamie Hoover (Spongetones, Don Dixon). It is her most personal recording to date, with a stunning range of material, from stories about family, those that have gone before and follow after, of lives lived and roads traveled. A compelling collection of songs which resonate with everyday life and the trials of walking the sod of this earth, all the while inhaling the joys, sorrows, disappointments and gentle graces that shape our paths…

BIOGRAPHY
Rebecca started out singing gospel music in the mountains of East Tennessee. Then, barely out of high school, Rebecca Rippy took off for a three month tour of Europe. There she found a fertile community of songwriters and performers – that helped shape her multi-faceted musical tastes and style of songwriting. With a beautiful flair for harmony, Rebecca has become many artists favorite singing partner. She will be a featured vocalist on the upcoming Barnhill and the 12 Tribes project and is slated to sing on several other Indie projects.
Listening to Rebecca Rippy’s debut album, Secrets(2007 release), one hears an artist playing for the sheer love of it, expressing herself fully and authentically, without concern for what’s trendy or hip. Whether singing heartfelt, folk-influenced ballads or gritty rockers, Rippy sings with sincerity and an emotional intensity that sets her apart from the crowd, and the sheer quality of her songs herald her arrival as a significant songwriting talent. From the first notes of “Secrets,” the opening track on the album, what is striking is the simultaneous power and intimacy of Rebecca’s voice. Transforming from a whisper to a bluesy, earthy roar, over a propulsive rhythm that suggests bluegrass, but also has hints of blues, folk and country, Rebecca’s vocals induce spine tingling as she sings of her “secrets just between you and me/I got secrets deep inside of me and they just won’t let me be.”
Rebecca has become a regular performer at such prestigious songwriter venues as the Bluebird Café in Nashville, TN and the Neighborhood Theater in Charlotte, NC. Rebecca and her band has shared the stage with acts such as REM producer Don Dixon, Lucy Kaplansky, Tony Rice Unit, Donna the Buffalo, Jim Lauderdale, Bill Mallonee and the Vigilantes of Love, John Cowan, Rhonda Vincent and Old Crow Medicine Show to name a few.
