Singer/songwriter Rebekah Del Rio, as seen in David Lynch's Award Winning film Mulholland Drive, began her professional music career when she was just 11 years old.

Always a fan favorite, Rebekah performed in Southern California clubs at night, while working as many as 3 jobs during the day. Her sultry good looks, stage presence, and breathtaking vocal range were noted by the San Diego Tribune as the paper hailed her as one of the Top 10 Singers in San Diego when she was barely 20. Her unique style is perhaps best represented in her signature song, the wrenchingly beautiful ballad "Llorando", a Spanish-language version of Roy Orbison's "Crying," which strongly evokes both her Latin roots as well as such vocal influences as Patsy Cline, Linda Ronstadt, Vikki Carr, and Karen Carpenter. In 1994, on the strength of that song, Rebekah moved to Nashville where she was signed to Irving Azoff's label, Giant Records.

Rebekah opened for Rod Stewart at the 25th Annual WEA convention, and cut her first album, called "Nobody's Angel." The title track was released on a compilation album for WEA, and the single shot to #2 in Holland. Ms. Del Rio then went on to do a recording project for James Stroud at DreamWorks' Nashville Label. Then she was cast as a principal character in "The Next Big Thing", an animated series, produced by Bob Doyle (Manager for Garth Brooks) where Rebekah plays a sultry Mexican-American Country Singer trying to make it in the music business. Not a far stretch from the truth.

Before moving back to Los Angeles, David Lynch cast her as herself in his nightmarish hymn to L.A., Mulholland Drive. In a pivotal scene, Rebekah plays an otherworldly cabaret singer at the dilapidated, near empty Club Silencio who sings an electrifying a capella rendition of "Llorando". Overcome while miming her own vocal, she collapses onstage midsong. The song goes on, even as she's carried off stage by the master of ceremonies. Her noteworthy performance has been universally praised as "a dazzling star turn," by John Powers in the L.A. Weekly, to "uniquely twisted," and "utterly enthralling," by Gregory Weinkauf from the New Times.

In a Village Voice interview, Lynch describes his partnership with Rebekah as a "happy accident": A music agent friend brought her over to his recording studio, and "four minutes off the street, she hadn't even had her coffee," Del Rio belted out a stunning a capella "Llorando". Duly impressed, Mr. Lynch wrote her and that very recording into his film. To hear him tell it, her choice of song was destiny." In 1985, going through Central Park, I heard Roy Orbison's version of "Crying" on the radio. "I was riding with Kyle MacLachlan, and we were going down to start shooting Blue Velvet, and I said, I gotta get that song! I got an album with Roy's greatest hits, and I listened to "Crying," but listening to it again, it didn't marry with the film. I was a little bit depressed, but I kept listening... And years later, through Rebekah it comes back in a completely different way."

"Working with David is like a dream", says Rebekah of her experience with the famous Director. Rebekah has written a song with Mr. Lynch and has worked with the 'Master of Strange' on an Internet series called 'Rabbits', opposite Naomi Watts.

Ms. Del Rio was received with a standing ovation at the 12th Annual Rainforest Foundation Benefit Concert at Carnegie Hall in April 2002 after singing "Llorando" a capella. Rebekah was joined by Sting, Sir Elton John, & James Taylor clad in sombreros and maracas while she sang "La Bamba" for a tribute to the 60's. Rebekah was also featured in Divas Simply Singing.

Ms. Del Rio sang with the Royal Philharmonic in England for thousands of fans and performed at The Sabera Foundation Fundraising Event in Cannes for a star-studded crowd which included Bono, Andrea Bocelli, Ricky Martin and Pamela Anderson. Ms. Del Rio's talents were expressed in the award winning film, Quattro Noza by Joey Curtis which was released in 2005 as "Streets of Legend", in "Sin City", and in the new Richard Kelly film, "Southland Tales".

    When I heard Crying done in Spanish on Prison Break I immediately when on the computer to find out who sung it. I get goose bummps every time I heard Rebekah sing Llorando, ordered two Cd's one for myself and for my girlfriend and were pleasantly suprised to heard how wonderful Rebekah sings, she has a voice that is easy to listen to, and we both enjoy the Cds and play them when every we can.

    At one time I owned the Mulholland Drive soundtract, but between moving and/or friends who borrowed it and never returned it, I lost it. Last month the TV show "Prison Break" closed their season with Rebekah's "Llorando", and her rendition left me wanting another copy [actually I was sobbing and on the floor........ha!]. I searched and found this album that is all her stuff. Wow, It blows me away.........simply beautiful!! You don't have to skip-the-disc to find the good ones, all the songs are winners!!! P.S. I am a San Diego transplant to Oregon.

    As most reviewers on here, I too was first introduced to the majestic voice of Rebekah del Rio in Mulholland Drive, the masterpiece by David Lynch. Almost immediately I started searching music stores for any Rebekah del Rio work and was greatly dissappointed that in the U.K there wasn't a single store selling her music. I am so gratefull I found CD baby and finally got my hands on this album, coz I can only say one thing about it, it is truly FANTASTIC!! Rebekah blends in soft jazz with spanish/mexican rythms and it really works well. Then, to top it off, accompanied by that truly magnificent and hypnotizing voice makes the whole album a winning combination! Thank you, CD baby, for giving us all the privilege of owning this great work, and thank you Rebekah del Rio, for sharing this wonderful gift of yours with all of us... I don't have much of a Latin collection, just a few, but this CD is stellar and transcends many musical categories.     Rebekah is uncommonly gifted with a breath taking voice, and respectably accomplished in her ability to control it with both bravado and subtlety. Not since 1966, when I was stunned in a California bar by a barefoot girl in a cotton summer dress (a Pre-fame Linda Ronstadt performance) have I been so disarmed by a voice. Rebekah transcends celebrity, and she creates something all the barbie dolls in their hip huggers forced on us by the record companies can't even conceive of; beautiful, heart wrenching music.

    unable to order the cd in regular stores here in belgium, but i was sold when i saw that movie (can't recall which one) where rebekkah del rio brought 'llorando'. Amazing performance, what a voice! i keep listening to that song and over and over it gives me goosebumps! 2 or 3 other tracks are also really good, rest of the cd is of average level. But "llorando" really is amazing.

    I'm not particularly into Latin music, but Rebekah's version of "Crying" from the Mulholland Drive soundtrack has haunted me for years. Since the only way to get the song is to purchase this entire album, I did so with some reservations. When the CD finally arrived, however, I quickly fell in love with the album in its entirety.     I was surprised at how much I liked All My Life. Rebekah has a beautiful voice and it carries the album even when the songs are just average. My favorite is her Spanish/English rendition of the soul classic "Always and Forever"(originally recorded by Heatwave). If you bothered to read this review, that means you must get this CD.

    This is a great CD generally, but the jewel is "Llorando," which I first heard in the film "Mulholland Dr." I don't speak Spanish, but when I listen to Rebekah del Rio's rendition of "Llorando," it doesn't matter -- I understand completely. Like other reviewers, I was surprised and disappointed that this CD was unavailable at Amazon.com or one of the other "big time" online music sources. In the end, it didn't matter. CD Baby took care of me.

    Great voice and delivery. An interesting balance of traditional folk songs and latin swing.     Rebekah has chosen to singing without support the magnificent song Llorando. That's a really blessing from God to her and from her to us. Her version of Sting's Fragile is really a gift. I think her voice have all the necessary nuances to sing anything she wants. At anycase, her spanish pronunciation sounds very different and sexy at the same time in ballads. She have a very promising career and I have not doubt she will be getting all success she is worth. Like a person from the Latino Comunity, I only can say: HEAVEN IS YOUR LIMIT BABY !

    Since I first heard her voice on David Lynch's "Mulholland Drive", I've been waiting for an Album. Rebekah del Rio kept the promise she made with her rendition of Roy Orbison's "Crying": A beautiful voice, heartfelt interpretations - a goddess of Latin. Although I prefer her traditional folk songs in Spanish, the whole album is a wonderful piece of art. Can't wait for her second Longplayer.

    Rebekah is an incredible singer - "Llorando" makes that clear. It's too bad that the rest of the songs on this disc (limp latin smooth jazz-pop, mostly) don't give her much of a chance to use that amazing instrument. I was disappointed.

    A beautiful album! This is apparently the only album available by Del Rio, which is a travesty, because I don't think I will ever tire of that powerfully soothing, angelic voice. I held off buying this CD at first because of the price, but having heard it once I'd pay double that to replace it. Llorando is the famous song from Mulholland Drive, but it's only one jewel in this audio treasure chest. BUY IT AND YOU WILL LOVE IT.

    The mix of songs sung in Spanish and English makes for great listening. Rebekah's singing on "Llorando" is, without doubt, destined to become her life's work, her masterpiece. Rebekah was born to sing this a capella Spanish version of "Crying". Absolutely magnificent!!! Perhaps Rebekah should consider singing "Guantanamera" another of my favourites. I highly recommend this CD to anyone who can appreciate a great voice, a great singing talent, a passionate artist.

    Well balanced album. Llorando is definitely the stand-out track. Perhaps, a follow-up album of popular American songs sung in Spanish would be well timed, radio friendly and commercially viable. Are there any plans to release the initial CD which was recorded in Nashville? Being a country music fan, I would welcome this inclusion in my music collection. However, with that magnificent voice, Rebekah should concentrate on beautiful, lilting, emotional ballads: sung bi-lingually. Well done!

I usually don't buy a CD in another language but Rebekah's voice is so good that it doesn't matter that I can't understand all the words. I would like to see her do a CD in all English though.

    Highly recommended. The spanish lyrics are the most pleasing but her delivery of the Delaney and Bonnie song Superstar is just mesmerising. I bought the album after hearing Llorando on Mulholland Drive, but, in a way, this is the odd man out on the album - nice to have but the rest points to what a major star this lady is and will surely very soon be.

In addition to "Llorando" (her signature Spanish-language rendition of Roy Orbison's "Crying"), there's the haunting "Los Bilbilicos", shimmering with passion, longing, and sadness; her gorgeous rendition of the Carpenters song, "Superstar"; and the delicate "Fragilidad", a Spanish interpretation of Sting's song, "Fragile". I have waited for years for this recording, since first encountering Ms. Del Rio in the David Lynch film, "Mulholland Drive". A true listening pleasure. More, please!

    I bought two copies of this CD and gave one to a friend, who said that his whole family fell in love with it, including his 4 year old daughter. I love all of the songs, but especially the final cut, Llorando, which always makes me cry, no matter what. Ms. Del Rio has an astonishing vocal range, and uses it magnificently on this album.

    Every song has it's own divine beauty, like Rebekah herself. The way the language changes from English to Spanish is clever and makes me appreciate the song more. My favorite track is 'A Long Goodbye', how that could get passed the Grammy nominees is beyond me. My only wish was that the band version of Llorando had been added or substituted. With 10 tracks, it leaves me hungry for Rebekah's next masterpiece.

    I also bought this CD just for the song "Llorando" which I first heard (and was mesmerized) in the Muholland Drive movie. As a bonus, my favorite song in the world "Fragile" (by the talented Sting) is also on this CD and better yet, it's in Spanish! Lovely. Double bonus, so is the song "Always and Forever" also in Spanish! Yippee! I couldn't ask for more.
