Album Notes

Various Artists - Recife Festival of Pop - 16 Successes

Recife, capital city of the state of Pernambuco, Brazil, is one of the newest and most active breeding grounds for Pop music in Brazil. This CD offers you the opportunity to hear the latest sounds coming out of Recife from five of the best bands around, including a non-Brazilian attraction!

Stamp your feet along with Saberés de Franja, a band working the circuits a lot these days with their fusion of rock, pop and regional music.

Practice your latest moves along with regional tecno / jazz / pop music direct from Mendigos da Côrte who after nearly ten years on the road sound as fresh as ever. Bria brings to you his own style of swing and reggae in his songs, like "Deixa Rolar" Try out the sound sample on the left hand side of your screen and if you don't like it, tell us!

Relax with the ballads of Steve Allen, Englishman now living in Recife producing as well as performing. It was he who produced this compilation of songs.

Round that off with a pinch of Mamutes no Asfalto who take you back to happy hippy times with their close harmonies and clean refreshing melodies that will carry you off in a world full of daisies and peace and love.

If you think that's not enough, as a 'just to please you' gift, one of the most sensitive and creative singer / songwriters from the region Gil has included one of his most recent successes "É Natal" (It's Christmas) just for you.

Feel free to use and abuse the sample songs on the left of your screen, and visit Piper Musics' website for more information on recent releases.

If you don't like the samples, tell us about it. If you do, buy the record!!
