notes

All songs written by Scott Reddy except track 7 which was written by Dan Velika.......All music and lyrics copyright2003-Scott Reddy Music/BMI........'A Vision Of Tapestry........'......AAAAHHH.....So much to say in such space'n'tyme'!.......'Night'N'Day is the end product of alot of dreaming, praying(I finally found a way!), planning, working, and whatever else!......I can still feel the vibes of that magic fungi that helped create my own 'Carrianne In Wonderworld' (or something like that!)......And the outright sadness of the Bosnian refugees all those miles away!....Put together a lifetime of thought with the true talents of those whom I surround myself with, and the experience seems well worth the time! (not Wasted!).........With the exceptional skills of Griff'n'Barry, we were able to put our hearts together and fulfill (at least) something to be proud of!.....GoG'N'Mel, There is not enough LOVE in the galaxies to express what you mean!....Thank You!......Branden,Gary,Ronnie,'N'Jimmy (Blind Jelly Donut).......You guys are the ROCK!....(who needs chaffe anyways!).......Thank You also please!......To whoever may read this outpouring of gratitude'n'crap, by being interested you are now part of the whole thing!.....Welcome!............You'll no doubt notice that I really DON'T know what happened to Elvis, But I can easily live with the fact that everyone wants to hear 'I Want My Cadillac Back'!........After all, I had to get your attention somehow!........PEACE TO ALL!!!!!!!.........Scott. • Reddy Offers Hope & Redemption On This Solid Hard-Rocking Debut.
    author: Rich Mohrland

Are you ready for "Night 'N' Day" by Scott Reddy? Vegetable grocer by day, life long rock & roller by night, Reddy turns in a admirable journeyman performance on this stellar debut album (2003 on UD Records) . This album rocks from start to finish - and Scott Reddy gives up an honest, hard working, hard rocking display of intriguing musical talents in the process. Playing multiple guitars, bass and even electric harpsichord, Reddy makes it apparent he wears his rock & roll influences on his sleeve - like badges of honor. There's an almost call & response-like duality to this record - which allows it to hang together as a soulfully cohesive album: "Crucifixion" - The album begins with thundering, ominous Uriah Heep / Black Sabbath style bass - and is off and running. "...As the day recedes to endless night.." The heavy, full band sound of this song sets the pace for the rest of this collection of songs. The electric harpsichord here reminds me a bit of "Love It To Death" era Alice Cooper. Lyrically Scott offers a sad & despairing realization that we're living in a world where it's tough to makes things better - but you have to keep trying none the less. "Trapped In Paradise" - Gets your toe tapping immediately with it's screaming guitar and tremendously tight drumming (courtesy of "Gog.") Scott's wishing for the days of Elvis & "penny arcades" and offers a nice ramble on searching for the sadly unattainable good ol' days - along with the trials, tribulations and defining moments of his life. "I got trapped in Paradise, Lord I wish I could have stayed..." "I Want My Cadillac Back" - This track alone ought to get this album in front of blues fans. Hysterically funny at times, Scott sings of a failed relationship in which - worst of all - he lost custody of his car! His vocals are gritty and superb here. "I pay for all her dentistry...while my teeth fall out...." Nice honky tonk piano from Gary Voller throughout. "She took me to court, made me pay her somemore... now I'm livin' in a room with no floor..." "Livin' Hard 'N' Fast" - is a rollicking, mid-tempo ramble which continues Reddy's lusting search for seemingly unattainable personal redemption. Great guitar and keyboard interplay here. "Miles Away" - After "Cadillac" this may be the best track to shoot for a single with. Melissa Barbosa helps out on vocals here, providing an essential and soft contrast to Reddy's bar room growl. "Miles away we saw them fall...The Television through the wall..." This is about the remote horror of watching the Twin Towers come down - and the resultant mess we've been mired in since. Machine guns & explosion effects interlace smoothly with the guitar & percussion. The songs ends with a final, apocalytic "earsplittenloudenboomer" to cap it off. "Carry On Carrianne" - Reddy & Barbosa trade off vocals and male/female P.O.Vs nicely on this track, though Melissa seems to get the juicier lyrics here. Some soaring keyboard work by Gary Voller rounds this tune out solidly. "Wanted Man" - The only track on the album not penned by Scott. It's about a man who accidentally kills another man trying to rob him - and ends up going to jail for it - yet his sprit remains unbroken. Interesting and appropriate tex/mex style flamenco guitar here by Reddy. Roll over, Johnny Cash! "No Hit Wonder (featuring The Not Reddy for Day or Night Time Players) - On first listen, the background conversation between rocker Scott , his woman and their "kid" is hilarious...But repeat listentenings offer up honest glimpses of what its like to spend years pursuing rock & roll dreams of stardom at the expense of the rest of your life. Play this one on headphones the first few times you listen to it. When I blast it on my stereo the voices get a bit lost in the mix. "I'm playin' at Tito's Pub next week !" Scott yells defensively to his woman (Melissa) who is complaining about "living in this shit hole." Great stuff....I also liked hearing Scott disagree with the engineer toward the end of the track who calls for a fadeout - but Scott wants to follow his instincts and let the track build to it's more logical conclusion..."Someday I'll be a star, playin' songs in a bar..." A bit of a comedy tune at times - though repeat listenings reveal a very honest pointincy... "The Calling" - The magnum opus of "Night 'N' Day. Offering socially conscious lyrics that ask "Is this how we want it to be?" Nice congas & guitar interlace into a fine tapestry here towards the beginning. "The metal machine lives on, while the old hippie dies." Again, itriguing & sadly honest lyrics here. Melissa helps out again with vocals. It's starts - in a state of sonic despair - but midway through the heavy guitar kicks in again - and redemption is found: "A vision of tapestry...A vision of Night N Day", Beauty...A vision of rock n roll, a vision of working for a living & following your dreams, a vision of making a shithole planet into a better place..... "Is this how it's going to be, Is this how it's going to stay?..." The despair of "Crucifixion" is allowed to come full circle to resolution here. On "The Calling" Reddy encorages the listener to optimiscally rise to the challenge - and the promise of a new day...If radio programmers had any balls today - they'd be pushing this track. "Timewaster" - Ferocious dual guitar garage rocker here. Solid bass & drums. Reminds me of The Replacements' historically redefining "Hootenanny" album. Vocals don't kick in till about the 40 second mark giving the players a chance to build a tight foundation here. "If rockers are to blame we do it for our gain.." I love the recurring stops & starts that follow then. "Where are all the witches, the mothers and the bitches - and where are all my riches!?" "Alone Tonight" - A ballad. Just Scott alone on guitar. Nice closer. A way to catch your breath from the rest of the albums heavier moments. Overall: This is a great, soulfully ass-kicking album from a lifelong musicians who realizes it's never too late to chase your dreams - or to try to make the world a better place along the way. But it! You won't be disappointed...And make it a point to catch to catch SCOTT REDDY the next time he plays the local "Tito's Pub" near you....Peace.
