Album Notes

Grab a free download of "It's All Over but the Crying' and listen to the whole album at... www.redeyejunction.bandcamp.com courtesy of Red Eye Junction What the local newspaper says... "...sounds like a buzz saw nasally cutting through burly logs made of western legends. The quartet of twanking countrified rednecks delivers a covered wagon full of originals that so perfectly fit the AM radio western music idiom you'd swear you've heard them before." Glen Starkey (San Luis Obispo New Times) What we wrote for our promo sheet... Red Eye Junction drifts along the path of traditional Country and Western music and takes it a step further. Like their heroes Waylon Jennings, Hank Williams, and Johnny Cash, REJ present a classic yet surprisingly fresh take on hard hittin’ American country music. REJ hits the stage with the swagger of the great outlaw country artist and the professionalism of their contemporary counter parts. Their original numbers sound like they would fit right in on your favorite Country Gold radio stations play list. REJ has respect for the guys who wrote the book and broke the mold of the watered down Nashville style. Make it a point to get on board next time they hit your town. Be sure to bring plenty a fightin’ words, whiskey money, and your cheatin’ heart…

REAL country music

It was a wonderful surprise stumbling across Red Eye Junction here on CDbaby. These guys are the real deal, carrying the country torch of the Outlaws of yesterday. They seriously DO sound like Hank and Waylon rolled up together with a bit of Cash thrown in. "My Outlaw Heroes" is a new anthem, and "I Spit On Your Grave" will haunt you. Well worth the $10!

Doc actually can out-nasal Dwight Yoachum and that can wear on you but the songs are tradional country and musically sound. It could be mixed a bit better as the instruments drowned out the singer on occasion but the more I listen to this album the better I like it. I had the pleasure of seeing the group open for Robert Earl Keen Sunday and they sounded very good live. Listen too it, put it away a week and listen to it again.
