De Profundis -translation: from the depths
The newest release from Redfish, De Profundis, was a year in the making. The Canadian indie band, with members from Vernon and Kelowna, BC, lucked out when multi-Grammy nominated and Grammy winning producer Randy Cantor (Ricky Martin, Fugees, Bon Jovi) discovered the Redfish website (www.redfishmusic.ca) and wanted to produce them. Adding more talent to the project was the addition of Grammy winning engineer Paul Santo (Aerosmith, Ringo Starr, Kid Rock). The result is a compelling, soulful concoction that represents the diversity and energy of Redfish, made more powerful with the creative influence of the greats collaborating on the album.
“Look On” rushes out of the gates with anthemic ferocity, and introduces Redfish to the masses as the first radio single for De Profundis. Brett James, Grammy winning songwriter to the biggest acts in music (Bon Jovi, Rascal Flatts, Faith Hill) wrote track 2 on De Profundis, “Breanna” along with Cantor and Dennis Matkosky (who wrote the Flashdance hit “Maniac”). Also on the album is Redfish and Cantor’s collaborative interpretation of Eric Burden & the Animals 1968 hit “Sky Pilot”. The 11 song LP is as focused as it is dynamic, with something stylistically for everybody. From the groove laden, in your face “Anteroom”, to the vulnerable and introspective “Polarized”, the diverse mix will draw listeners into the Redfish sonic experience.
Having shared stages with Evanescence, Finger Eleven, Nazareth, Lou Gramm, Seether, the Trews, Sloan and 54-40, Redfish have had a taste of the big crowds, big concerts, and the big dream. Not only a local delicacy, Redfish have sold albums globally with sales reaching the UK and China. Songs from previous Redfish album, Silvertonia were broadcast worldwide on Sportsnet’s Sacred Ride snowboard television show. Music video “Last Regrets”, the single from Silvertonia, got national attention on MuchMusic, and was a number one hit on Okanagan Radio stations.
Redfish are currently planning a Canadian tour, and are negotiating a European tour to follow. Locally Redfish will be releasing their new CD at various locations in British Columbia and Alberta.
