Album Notes

Red Rubber Band is an amorphous conglomeration of creative neo-traditionalists. Building from the leadership and craftsmanship of Chris Congdon, the ensemble respects the history of jazz, blues, and country rock and allows for the improvisational touch of jam band aesthetics to take it into the stratosphere. Providing a snappy combination of original songs and interpretations of classics by Dave Mathews, Phish, Moe, Bob Dylan and the Grateful Dead, the musicians provide a welcoming environment to relax, shake off your troubles, and groove to the available free flowing positive energy.

This Portland based group includes the foundations of rhythm provided by Doug Vanbuskirk’s solid drumming, Tom Moore’s elastic bass lines, and John Farrell’s variety of funky, percussive accompaniments. Charlie Cook’s masterful guitar work blends perfectly with the landscape of Glen Anderson’s inspirational electric violin. The brilliance and beauty of Lee Taylor’s sax and flute takes the magic to even higher ground. Depending on the venue, and the alignment of the stars, other musicians may be found contributing their own talents to intensify the flavor and texture of this musical stew.

The goals of Red Rubber Band include peace and harmony for all nations, and kindness and generosity among all strangers. Come on out and enjoy the music – we promise you’ll leave the show with a smile.
