Album Notes

Red Sammy juxtaposes dark and gritty sounds with vibrant bursts of lyrical and harmonic splendor. Vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter Adam Trice founded the Gothic Americana band when he joined vocalist, bassist, and songwriter, Katie Feild. Both Trice and Feild blended their styles to create a resonance all their own.

Their first, full-length, self-titled album recorded at Cleancuts Music in Baltimore, Maryland contains eleven, picturesque songs that capture the hope in desperation, the beauty in imperfection. From the mellow ocean-tide groove of “Outside” to the raw-rocking grunge licks of “King on the Road”, Red Sammy’s songs reach the core of the listener.

Influences include, but are not limited to the following: Pixies, Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits, John Lennon, Alejandro Escovedo.

A great album!

Full of subtle poetry, grit, and emotion, Red Sammy's self-titled debut is a very satisfying listen. Adam's voice is unique and full of weariness, Katie's voice spritely, yet knowing. The contrast between the two song writers' voices gives the album breath. The instrumentation is spare. Every drum hit and guitar strum is crisp and audible, making this a great disc for repeat listens - there's always more to hear. I highly recommend this album!

there just aren't enough good bands like this in Baltimore. I like the CD; I'm sure if I saw them live I'd enjoy that too. Perhaps sometimes soon....
