Keep On Keepin' On!
author: Steve DIY
There´s been so many naff tributes to bands that haven´t really been up to scratch but not this one. If one band deserves a tribute it´s the Redskins as they were a wicked band in the 80´s. There´s some wicked tributes on here by the likes of Peasant Army, The Three Johns, Maninblack, The Yell Leaders and Negu Gorriak. Ok so they might not be as good as the original versions but it´s great to hear bands who make an effort with cover versions. 18 tracks in all with ace songs like ´Red Strikes The Blues´, ´Keep On Keepin´ On´ and ´Unionize´ covered. Production and packaging is second to none. Some great sleeve notes on here too! The guy who put this together deserves a few beers and a pat on the back.

Getting Red-skinned up
author: Mairtin Gardner
Could these songs be covered...? Well, yeah.
Various artists from The Three Johns, The Che Men, Negu Gorriak and the superb Inciters, whose cover of Lean on Me is nearly as good as the original, manage with others to put their own spin on some of the best Redskins tracks and make for a pretty good tribute album.
Whatever the reasons for the album at this time, it’s certainly time well spent. If it does nothing more than bring a new audience to their music then it is worth it.
Even better if it moves a few others to look at socialist politics. Whatever the reason, get this album, and then get the original Redskins songs.
I’d recommend them on vinyl but if not CD is okay I suppose. Just get hold of the music, listen and enjoy.
Comrades, I give you The Redskins by others...

Politically charged power-pop
author: Sargie (Scootering Magazine)
A mixed bag of differing interpretations of the Redskins standards gives some of them a new perspective as well as potentially introducing a whole new generation to the Redskins politically charged power-pop genius. This worthwhile 18 tracker, is one of those albums that is worth buying blind, purely on the strength of the quality of the songs. Cream of the interesting crop being the sample and groove laden take on The Power Is Yours by The Yell Leaders meet The Grooveblaster which positively oozes soul sensibilities, Rinaldi Sings poptastic version of Hold On and The Inciters pounding reworking of Lean On Me, complete with huge brass laden choruses. An excellent tribute to an excellent band.
