Album Notes

RtV goes acoustic... a lot of these 7 songs were originally written on a acoustic guitar on our lap, so it felt only natural to us to go back to basics and record these tracks with acoustics only. for the occasion we rented a remote house in the Belgium hills, and only went out to get fresh beverage and food (the long shaped Belgium bread tasts awsome, as well as the Belgium beers btw)... we recorded mostly at night with candles all over the place. and used a simple 8 track Tascam tape for the analog vibes... capturing some intense moments, like a gloomy version of our bluesy track Don't Wanna Lose You with 2 classical guitars and 3 harmony singing in an extended version of our radiotune Here I Am.

some minor achievements...
* Red to Violet won the Alt Song Award for JPFolks (US)
* the Here I Am VIDEO won Viewers Choice Award on Music Search, broadcast on CN8 TV - the largest cable tv network in the US, reaching 4 million in 4 states * airplay on 400+ college radios, all over the US

True inherent musicianship

Red to Violet have now gone one stage further, by releasing 7 acoustic tracks that show their true inherent musicianship. There are not many bands these days who are willing to wear their credentials on their shoulders, but El and Onno do. To release an acoustic version of their well known track Here I Am, could well have been a disastrous move for a less well equipped band. Red to Violet carry off this transformation seamlessly and can only gain new fans through exposing their musical diversity. All the other tracks bear testament to this too; this Unfiltered-release is definitely an album for your collection!

"Scoring high in the British alternative charts and..."

The latest news in my review section comes from Red to Violet. With some help from Golden Earring's George Kooymans this band made a beautiful debut-CD and scoring high in the alternative charts in Britain. Red to Violet now have a new CD out. This time an acoustic one, titled ‘Unfiltered’. On this CD we also find the first single 'Here I Am'. Personally I think this new CD sounds pretty much like what could very well have been a Eurythmics acoustic album, and I mean this in a positive way! Eurythmics also wrote great songs and made great albums. And these Red to Violet songs could have fitted in the famous Eurythmics repertoire easily, or the other way round!

Fascinating and compelling, El’s rich vocals weave through Onno’s endearing melodies. When their voices collide the harmonies are powerful and uplifting. The “Unfiltered” CD is anything but stripped; it’s pure and potent - understated rock at its finest hour.
