Album Notes

coming from the land of windmills and wooden shoes RtV feels inspired by musicians and composers from US and UK... EL is the duo's lead vocalist, she plays piano, some guitar and does most percussion jobs on the album... Onno is the guitar man using his range of guitars, tube amps and vintage pedal effects to create his soundscapes... on this album he also plays the bass. RtV have been called idealists, they are vegetarians, mind and soul searchers and even UFO watchers since a visit to Italy... playing guitar and singing poolside late at night in Tuscany they claim to have seen a sigar shaped UFO flying over just a few hundred feet from the ground... not once but twice... two Italian close friends witnessed it too... all 4 claim there was no wine or limoncello involved... since then RtV knows for sure - just like Sheryl Crow apparantly - that 'they're out there...'

'GREAT TRACKS...'
Jack Daley, NJ, bass player for Lenny Kravitz, Joss Stone & others...

NEW ALBUM
august 2011: RtV has recorded a brandnew album with 14 tracks and is about to start to mix this sound soup, bringing all the tracks together and adding some spices and herbs in forms of panning left/right, reverb, delay, chorus, phasing etc... no remote cottages on a Belgium hillside this time, but a recording and mix on a boat... huh?! do there guys every record normal...? well, did you ever meet a normal person? how was it? interesting...? anyway, the album's mastering is planned at Sterling Sound NY, ooouch there goes the band's savings... but it should be worth it... first the mix... taking the time and polishing the raw recorded sounds and focusing on a balance between dynamics, emotions, vibe and flow... it's a whole new sound adventure and hopefully resulting in a tasty sound soup..

REVIEW
'SOULFUL, DEEP, A TRUE MASTERPIECE' - 100.7 Highland FM, Victoria, Australia
'Surrender to the Unknown' sees Red to Violet reaching true musical maturity and independence. from the opening track, Ease the Pain, to the retro sounds of Made of Some Energy, Red to Violet are proving that they are serious contenders for The Band Of The Year. For something more soulful and deep, listen carefully to Who Am I, a true masterpiece in itself. the transformation of this band over the past years has been superb. an album to treasure.' (radio DJ Tony Bates, 100.7 Highland FM, Victoria, Australia)

'Very good album, made me think of John Lennon's Imagine...'
author: Bruce von Stiers

...Ease The Pain is the first song. It made me think of John Lennon's Imagine. Light and lyrical in the main verses and powerful guitar in the chorus. -The second song is the title track, Surrender to the Unknown. Melodic, this has good guitar and terrific vocals. -It's The Soul That Grows has some tough guitar starting it out. Then things move on into a subtle, laid back pop /rock ballad. -Be What I Am reminded of REM, with interesting guitar and strong vocals. -Can You Handle It To Be Happy is a fast paced tune. -M.H. is a great blues laden tune. -Unconditionally is a lighter anthem. -Time For Repose is a darker song, with Chrissie Hynde type vocals. Surrender To The Unknown is not just another album of pop tunes. EL and Onno have put together songs that blur the lines between pop, alt pop and alt rock. Strong vocals, great guitar and interesting lyrics make this a very good album.

I have to say this is very good music! Soft yet powerful enough to keep you wanting more, and more is what you get. The depth of the music is what made it a 4 star review in my eyes, this is clean crisp music hot right out of holland. I would recommend this music to anyone that wants a fresh sound in their soundtrack to life.
