"For Real" is an excellent capsule in time of a multitude of influences. Amongst the mid-90s r&b and alternative rock input into the genres of songs on the album, the four member each contribute their own unique voice to the project.
Lead vocalist, Monica Leigh captures a sense of personal lyrics that are able to hold dignity in their vuneralbility. Keyboardist, Elissa Metropoulos shines throughout the album, particuarly on her piano lines and backing vocals on "Waiting Up For You." Guitarist/keyboardist, Renee Serritella shows an excellent sense of melodism and tears up a great guitar work on "Closer." Bassist, Mike Demars lays down a solid foundation and writes the best song on the album, "You Crossed The Line."
The songs reflect the effects of heartbreak and lays down expectations for future relationships. The album shows the effects of four talented individuals coming together and lays down great expectations for future projects.
