Reese Van Riper finally lifted the veil to their audience. Releasing their first publicly accessible album since the bands formation in 1924. Much like their past albums "Sleep Well Dolly" possesses a sound that reflects the bands 85 year history and their passion for the stripped down feel of 78 RPM recordings.
Reese Van Riper is truly a modern day legacy of a band that has been around for eighty five years. The bands history and music has been passed on through one family’s blood, sweat, and musical ability and morphed into the current form that it is today. The first generation of the band was founded by Reese Van Riper in 1924 and was eventually passed on to his Godson, Richard Van Riper. Richard picked up the act in 1946 and advertised his project under his Godfathers name, taking the band in the direction of boogie woogie, blues, and folk. Richard Van Riper finally closed the hood of his piano in 1973 to spend more time with his family. It wasn't until Richard Van Riper’s Godson Reese picked up the guitar and started banging on some keys that the music came alive again with the 3rd generation of the band. With Reese Van Riper himself on lead guitar and vocals, Tommy Mac playing accompanying guitar, and Kevin Francis III on keys, the latest line up of the timeless band has taken on the task of ensuring that the Reese Van Riper legacy live on through its unique style of music that seemingly blurs established boundaries of all musical genres. As a whole, Reese Van Riper captivates audiences with their intense stage presence and swampy, bluesy twang, while remaining true to their roots which thrive in the state of New Jersey.
