Imagine songwriting that brings to mind Sheryl Crow and Jennifer Knapp carried by a voice that has been compared to Kim Hill, Melissa Etheridge and Jamie Smith. This singer, songwriter and guitarist might be a result of your imaginings: Introducing Kris Reffett.
Kris is a songwriter, singer, guitarist and worship leader. She is passionate about music, transparent in life and sincere in faith. Kris has performed with such artists as Rich Mullins, Smalltown Poets and Three Crosses and has been featured live on television and radio programs. Her audiences have ranged in size as large as 8,000 people in convention centers to intimate settings of a few people in coffee houses.
Recently, another number became significant to Kris. One in Eight women will contract breast cancer in her lifetime and in July of 2002 Kris joined the ranks of young breast cancer survivors throughout the United States. Although the fight against cancer has been draining, the experience has given her a new excitement about her music, a deeper dependency on God and a greater desire to share a message of faith and hope to others.
To date, Kris has two projects to her credit; "For the Sake of Love", and "You Move Me”. Both of these projects were produced by Rick May, drummer for such Bands as DC Talk, Jennifer Knapp, Zilch and former member of the Starsong recording artists "The Walter Eugenes". Rick has produced for such artists as Broomtree, Blame Lucy, Send the Beggar and many others. The projects feature Rick on drums and some tracks spotlight the guitar and bass talent of members from Send the Beggar. Both albums have received airplay for multiple singles in various states across the Midwest.
Kris is passionate about performing and encouraging others through live performance of her songs but she also finds a unique fulfillment in leading others into the presence of God through her music. Much of Kris' songwriting has resulted in praise and worship songs that have been utilized in the local church. Kris has been serving as the Worship and Arts Coordinator at The Church in Galloway since October of 1999 and also serves as an independent worship leader and consultant for churches seeking to expand their worship outreach.
