Reggie Webb is an up and coming Hip Hop artist born in Baltimore City now living in the Inland Empire of California. Since his fourth place finish in The Sources Unsigned Hype Battle in 2000, he’s went on to release four independent projects. “The Genesis” (2000), “Everything’s A Come Up” (2003), “A Mic & A Dream vol: 1", and “Midnight Grind vol: 1" both in 2007. The first two releases were under the independent label Big Kratez Records/Third Eye Ent., based out of Virginia Beach and Dale City, VA. Collectively the first two releases sold close to 8,000 units. The two recent projects are both doing well on itunes, cdbaby, imeem, amazon, tunecore, and rhapsody.com.
While being signed to Big Kratez Records he grew as a lyricists, songwriter, and producer. Splitting time between his own projects he co-wrote songs for R&B and Hip Hop artist from the Maryland, D.C., Virginia, and Philadelphia area. The buzz he generated started to attract the attention of major labels and production companies. Just as it seemed Reggie Webb getting ready to make a major move things at the label fell apart.
After the personal and business storms finally setteled four years later and 3,000 miles away from his hometown, he’s back on the scene. When he released A Mic & A Dream and Midnight Grind he achieved something his first two releases did not, regional airplay. From 88.9 and 92.3 in Baltimore, 93.9 and 95.5 in Washington D.C., Power 99 in Philly, and OC104 in Ocean City, MD. With airplay comes shows and since the summer of 07 Reggie Webb has been a road warrior. Performing at some premier spots like, Love Night Club, H20, The Red Lounge in D.C.. In Philly Club 923, The 5 Spot, and The Zone. In Baltimore he ripped stages at, The 5 Seasons, Edens Lounge, The Baltimore Artscape, The Black Hole, and Rams Head. During some of these shows he shared the stage with Eric Roberson, Raheem Devaughn, Wale, Wordsmith, AZ, Big Daddy Kane, Young Guns, Pedi Crack, and Floetry. So, to say the least he’s a seasoned performer that’s able to please any crowd from gangsters to neo-soul, even down to the casual music fan.
Currently he’s working on several projects, a new CD to be released on his own imprint
(A Mic & A Dream Ent.), a novel of short stories about emcees trying to come up, and spoken word CD to complement the novel. Along with these projects he still promoting his last two releases at various venues and the internet. Reggie Webb is looking to make a major impact in the music industry as an artist as well as an executive. Its time for change in the game, music fans are thirsty for substance and this artist has oceans of it.
