About The Presley Sessions:
A 50s era tribute to Elvis!
\"Prepare to be surprised...\" - Vancouver Province
\"Absolutely gorgeous\" - Maverick (UK)
\"Beautifully done...a truly authentic voice.\" - Molly Johnson
In honour of the 30th anniversary of Elvis’ untimely demise, Canadian singer songwriter Reid Jamieson brings you The Presley Sessions. Originally titled ‘For the Colonel, with Love’ this fifties era tribute album was initially recorded it as a birthday gift for his longtime sweetheart/manager CVM (affectionately nicknamed ‘the Colonel’ after Presley’s rambunctious and rather opportunistic manager). True to her namesake, she just couldn’t resist sending it out there to see if someone saluted, which they did, and friends at Banbury Park Records quickly scooped it up as it fit perfectly with their catalogue of retro inspired music. Not to be confused with an impersonator, Reid lends his own compelling voice to this tender tribute, singing songs originally recorded in the late 1950s back when Elvis still had a last name. Recorded on his own at home, with Reid singing harmonies and playing each instrument himself, this disc has a whole lot of soul. A long time fan of the King, especially early and lesser known recordings such as ‘Is It So Strange’, Reid also enjoyed performing the hits like ‘One Night’ and ‘Any Way You Want Me’ when ever the spirit called -and it did. Inspired vocal performances coupled with Reid’s spirited guitar playing make this a musical love letter that will light up the hearts of Presley (and Jamieson) fans everywhere. You know your mom wants a copy...

The Presley Sessions

The words and the tunes on this CD are common knowledge, but what's refreshing is that Jamieson gives every song a new, outstanding interpretation.
It would be easy just to "do" Elvis, but Jamieson works at it, singing great songs in his own style and with his own inflections and emotions. And, the fact that he recorded all of the parts at his home recording studio gives it an additional, earthiness that goes right back to the roots of rock-n-roll.

What a surprise. Heard this on satellite radio and couldn't believe my ears. Big fan of Elvis, but now a fan of this Jamieson guy. Great job covering the otherwise sacred.
