Album Notes

Jason Reischel was born in New York and raised in the music-rich town of Asheville, North Carolina. Jason first picked up a guitar at the age of six and remembers hearing George Harrison once say: "If they (John and Paul) can write songs, then why can’t I?" That struck a chord with Jason and before he completed junior high school he composed his first song.

Flash forward to Sept. 11, 2001. After the horrible events of that day Jason started furiously composing music, inspired by the nakedness and raw emotion of true Americana. "The first 100 songs I wrote did not seem to have lasting power, but I think you need to write 100 songs or so before composing your first good one ... 'good' meaning music that resonates with people; songs that reflect the essence of being human and that speak of the interconnectedness of all that is good."

"Brown Bridge & Green Bridge" is Jason’s first full-length solo album, and his new material differs from prior compositions, especially his lyrics. “I don't just put words down to fill out a melody any more. I put a lot of thought into the message ... the words I am relaying to the audience. I feel there is a certain amount of magic in the new material. I’m the first to admit that I’ve written bad songs before, so I make sure that everything coming out of my editing phase, which is kind of like pouring water through a strainer, is something important I want to say and to share with the audience."

Since moving to New York City two years ago, Jason regularly performs at The Bitter End, Pianos, Sidewalk Café, and CBGB’s Gallery.

This album has something that sure to grab anyone. The heartfelt lyrics are sincere, and relate to us all. The songs are soothing and more simply put, groovy. It's absolutely timeless. I imagine, I will still be reaching for it, years from now. A beautiful voice, paired with a feel good melody, and a meaningful message. It doesn't get much better than that. I cannot wait for the next one!

Awesome CD, but you also need to hear this music live...

I often play this CD to unwind before going to bed. His vocals and guitar playing posess a magical quality. Endearing and refreshing. Very sentimental yet raw. If he's gigging near you, go hear him live. He sounds even better, if that's possible. Truly a talented and great musician. I wish him much success.

A "complete" album with outstanding songwriting and impeccable guitar.

All too often artists are creating songs instead of albums. What happened to the days when musicians constructed albums? Brown Bridge & Green Bridge is a positive regression back to the times of complete albums. This disc contains a start, a finish, and an in-between which were carefully conceived and arranged by Jason to give his audience a consummate listening experience. This album bears a mood, a destination, and a message which translate best when received all at once and without interruption. Jason delightfully transforms his many influences to create a style all his own. His meticulous and challenging guitar playing combine with honest melodies to produce a timeless and refreshing sound. I love this album and can't wait for the next one.
