"craft catchy, hook-laden pop songs, but rock them hard and play them with a swagger, all delivered with a sonic punch from a rhythm section that takes no prisoners."
OC Weekly hailed The Relatives as "gooey power pop with a dangerous garage-rock edge." Based out of Orange County where such bands as No Doubt, Stone Temple Pilots, Lit and Sugar Ray blossomed from. The Relatives have been Mesmerizing crowds with their incredibly tight and energetic sets, The Relatives have been making their presence known and unforgotten to club goers throughout California.
"Dirty Little Secret" the bands second CD release shows the bands growth, with more hard rocking power pop songs and even more soulful lyrics then the first release.

Deserving of those $15 in your back pocket
author: Skratch Magazine
Power pops The Relatives have a lot of things going for them with an album like DIRTY LITTLE SECRET. First and foremost, songs like Overblown and She Says OK are catchy as hell. Theres a great smart-alecky edge to the music that combines pop with hints of punk. It's pretty simplistic in rhythms and overall style, but a lot of times that's all gleefully overlooked. DIRTY LITTLE SECRET is a sweet effort and deserving of those 15 bucks in your back pocket.

Power pop has finally returned in the form of the Relatives.

Power pop has finally returned in the form of the Relatives. Cheap Trick is all but dead. Enuff Z'Nuff has nearly given up. The Relatives muscular guitar pop is a breath of fresh air in an otherwise stagnant music scene.
"Dirty Little Secret" is full of hook laden pop gems like "She Says OK." Driving power pop that just feels good seems to be what the Relatives do best. "Is it Wrong" reminds me of everything I love about Cheap Trick, and "Cause You Pain" is a Teenage Fanclub style power ballad. Their cover of Tom Petty's "American Girl" is a refreshing surprise. The classic song is beefed up with an upbeat tempo and distorted guitars.
The Relatives have created a very enjoyable sound. I foresee "Dirty Little Secret" getting regular rotation in my house for some time to come.

If Neil Young and Weezer ever Teamed up.
author: Orange County Register / by Robert Kinsler
If Neil Young and Weezer ever teamed up to record an album, it might well sound something like the sophomore effort from the Relatives. The Orange based trio's "Dirty Little Secret" features a dozen songs that somehow infuse tightfisted power pop with dirty garage rock on strong originals such as "Overblown", "Unglued" and "So Uncool."
Picking right up where they left of on 2000's "Meet The Relatives" They have forged a sound that is somehow independently low-fi and epic all at once.
The material on "Dirty Little Secret" will inspire anyone concerned that rock 'n' roll has lost its fun quitient.
