Reliquary has become synonymous with the goth music scene in Phoenix,
Arizona, where the group is based. This three-member band has created
a unique sound that encompasses influences from genres such as goth
rock, industrial, darkwave and classical. Reliquary credits the bands
Faith and The Muse, The Smiths, Qntal, Lacrimosa and Requiem in White
for inspiring and influencing their work.
It is because of this diversity that Reliquary has cross-over appeal,
and is enjoyed by a myriad of populations. They have opened for Faith
and The Muse, Bella Morte, The Last Dance and The Cruxshadows, as well
as headlining innumerable shows, establishing their brand and becoming
a firmly rooted, much loved fan favorite amongst goth enthusiasts.
Signed by Phoenix-based label Final Joy Records, who partners with
Black Rain records in Germany, Kara (vocals), Loki (guitar), and
Suriel (bass) make up the trio that is Reliquary.
Kara is a classically trained vocalist, with a Master’s degree in
Music Performance Pedagogy. Her impressive four-octave range sends
shivers down your spine in the hauntingly beautiful pieces composed by
Loki, the group's writer, guitarist and programmer. His sound is
strong and expressive, and he can carry you to faraway places with
just the stroke of a few notes. Loki’s guitar playing creates the
signature sound of Reliquary, while dancing harmoniously with bass
player Suriel. Together they form the driving force of the band:
Suriel provides a powerful foundation with her bass, occasionally
contributes exquisite lyrics and effortlessly transitions to keys in
certain songs.
Their sound is composed of rich layers of synth, drums and strings,
completed with complex guitar work and demanding vocal styles. A
true “guilty pleasure” for listeners to indulge in, Reliquary has had
great success with their previous albums, leading to ovations of
reviews in popular publications such as Orkus and Zillo.
Additionally, Reliquary reached #8 on the Italian alternative radio
charts, which earned them an invitation to perform at one of the
largest annual goth/darkwave festivals, Wave Gotik Treffen, in
Germany.
Path of Hours, the band's latest effort, is scheduled for release
(Date here) and Reliquary is looking forward to sharing their
evocative, dark music with the world once again.
